Our team consists of a two engineers, an amusements professsional and a high school social science teacher. What we have in common is our love of trains and miniature railways. Our loco is a scale recreation of a classic 1950's Australian diesel locomotive. The 42 class was amongst the first generation of diesels to take to the rails in Australia. They were manufactured by Clyde Engineering in Granville in 1955/56 to a well tested American layout. The prototype for this particular locomotive has become famous as the regular diesel "babysitter" assigned to the queen of the railroad, 3801.
The "face" of this particular species of diesel locomotive, and its similiarity to a certain breed of canine, led to them being nicknamed "Bulldogs".
