TEAM 88 MPH

Loco Name / Number :   DH3805
Loco Type :   PETROL
Loco Description :

DH3805 is a 5" gauge scale model of the Queensland Railways DH Class diesel-hydraulic shunter, built in-house by club members at Hornsby Model Engineers. Finished in a bold orange livery, it’s the 5th DH loco constructed at the club — hence the number “05” — and forms the mechanical heart of TEAM 88 MPH in this year’s Back to the Future-themed Galston500.

Originally designed for yard work and light freight duties in Queensland, the real-life DH class was compact yet powerful. DH3805 brings that same spirit to life in miniature, clocking up lap after lap in the name of MS research fundraising — not quite hitting 88 miles per hour, but certainly packing plenty of torque for time travel (or at least time endurance)!

Planned Time on Track :   9:00am to the end

Available for rides :   Yes

About Us :

TEAM 88 MPH – About Us

Great Scott! We’re TEAM 88 MPH, back for our 5th Galston500 [Previous years 2018, 2019, 2022, & 2023] and ready to clock up serious laps in support of MS research. Our ride? The bold DH3805 – a 5" gauge model of a Queensland Rail DH Class shunter, proudly built right here at Hornsby Model Engineers and painted in a high-visibility time-travel orange.

The "05" marks it as the fifth DH built in the club – but don't let the number fool you, this machine is built for endurance. While we won’t quite hit 88 miles per hour, we’re channeling the spirit of Doc Brown and Marty McFly to power through 500 laps... and maybe punch a hole through the space-time continuum while we're at it.

This year’s Back to the Future theme suits us perfectly — because when it comes to fighting MS, there’s no time like the present.
